Innovation in Irrigation: Water Measurement and Metering Field Day
The Gwydir Valley Irrigators Association (GVIA) is hosting an Innovation in Irrigation: Water Measurement and Metering Field Day on Thursday 29th November 2018 at “Keytah” Moree.
Executive Officer of the GVIA, Zara Lowien said the day is about informing irrigators in the region about changing regulations for water measurement and metering and providing them an opportunity to meet with government agencies involved in the transition as well as, to discuss their needs with service providers and suppliers.
“The GVIA knows that water users in this region have largely adopted the most accurate systems commercially available to them, however, the government’s rules on whether these remain compliant going forward are changing and we need to communicate that” she said
“We’ve planned the day to be a one-stop-shop for all irrigators and water users, to communicate these new requirements scheduled to take effect on 1 December 2018 and help them identify the best way to meet them”
“We decided on a field day with presentations, a grower-government panel and trade displays, as an engaging way to achieve this” she said
“Presentations will include the new rules by the NSW Government’s Water Reform Taskforce, as well as, training requirements and opportunities by Irrigation Australia explaining, ways to verify meter performance in-field by WaterQuip and ways to value-add to farm businesses via real-time farm monitoring by Goanna Ag Telemetry”.
“There will be a number of service providers and suppliers with trade displays, where water users can meet with these companies on the day to discuss their metering or telemetry requirements” said Mrs Lowien.
